East Penn Battery
If you seriously believe that Harley designed a battery and then told a battery manufacturing company how to make it....You're delusional.
They simply put their battery business up for bid and chose the bidder that could deliver them for the lowest cost, pure and simple, just like they do with tires, oil and all of the other H-D branded stuff that you guys seem to think is somehow magically better because it says Harley-Davidson on it and costs way more.
The AGM battery that EPM/Deka builds for Harley is the same battery that they market under a number of different brands and the only difference is that the Harley battery has the Harley, Bar and Shield logo on it.
My last HD lasted 7 years of trouble free use, I have buddies that say they get around 2 years +/- with the Deka. Do the math, in the end the cost is the same.
I never said their batteries were crap and yes the discussion DID take place.
To each their own, Make your own decisions, it is your bike and your money. If you don't like what I have posted, you don't have to slag me, do your own research.
Why would they make "the HD battery for vibration and cranking", and then for their Deka labelled motor cycle batteries make them anything less? - it does not make commercial sense.
You can, but I did not keep them. There was no sense filing something just in case I needed them some day just to prove something when someone calls me a liar.
As stated before, East Penn makes a quality product, I use their batteries in my vehicles as well.
Every company has someone make products for them and then have their label placed on them. Some good, some crap.
To each their own, it is my opinion and my experiences that I attempted to share. Apparently, there are those that would rather attack you than doing their own research or have an open mind.
I do not work for HD or am affiliated in any way. Buy what makes you happy and gives you that warm fuzzy feeling.
