What kind of riding do you do? Are you planning on any other engine work besides pipes, intake, and tuner? Do you run around redline all the time, or just cruising around and want more low end, or a mix of both? Lots to consider here. We will need this info in order to help you make the right choice.

Default night train cams

i just do normal riding with my wife but im looking for some more power on long hills. Im having the 5k mi service done and going to have a super tuner put on for now. But was looking maybe to a cam upgrade later and a friend has that tuner with 204 cams and really likes his setup. But he was told he could go up alittle more with the cams and still not hurt the ride ability of the bike. Thanks

What's normal riding.???.

for me its putting on county roads at 35-40 mph.
for other its ***** to the wall at 80 on the Hi-way.

To get help on picking out cams U need to explain a lot more about how U ride and what U want.

Don't just go with what MY buddy has unless U ride exactly like he does.

The 204's are good cams but a little soft in the lower rpm's if ridden two up. A 4* advance gear will help them a little. They do have a really good loopy Idle.
Son had the 204's cams in his 07 Deuce and 09 NT, with the 4*gear.

The 255's are great for Low-MID rpms but fall off around 4200, they are mostly for Bagger's that are loaded up and two onboard.

Still there are a lot of other picks.. jsut need to know How and What U want/expect.

For good low mid performance a cam with 35 or less "intake close" will give U good tq for two up riding in the 1800 -2400 range.

heres a link that compares a lot of cams. up to three at a time.

Lots of good cams out there just make sure you get one that will suite your needs. I'd recomend calling Fuel Moto and talking to them, they can get you set up with everything you need including a tuner. I'm not the biggest fan of the Super Tuner, if you already had it I would not see the point in changing but There are more user friendly tuners out there. Are you planning on tuning it yourself or taking it in for a dino tune? You could get a pretty damn good street tune out of the Power Vision and TTS. I'd go that route over letting a dealer touch my bike, not saying all dealers are bad but I've seen alot of really crappy tunes come from dealers.

A lot depends on what you want to gain, I have a 07 train and installed the 255's, a lot of people here don't care for that cam but I do a lot of 2 up riding and these cams were recommended by a dealer. I talked with lot of different people who had experence with cams. I do know that chasing motor build can get expensive and very involved. I don't have the money that some have to go that route. I knew that the 255's would give me good results without spending a lot of coin on heads, pistons and other parts. I also wanted to leave it as a 96 cubic inch. My train had a stage one with the harley screaming eagle foot ball cover and big radius 2 into 2 exhaust with a SERT. I debated about the 254's a lot also. I ended up with the 255's and am very happy with the way everything turned out. Yes I could have went with different cams and gained more but at what expense?? The bike runs cooler and pulls great. I wanted a deeper sound from the exhaust so I installed the Big City Thunder QQ baffles in the 2 into 2. Gained some mid range by doing that also and llike the sound better now. It was dinnoed with 81 and hp and 92 tourq. after the cam set up. some say its still week for a stage 2 but thats ok, I like it. Good luck with the cams, hope you find one that works well for you. just my 2 cents worth.

About any tuner should make Ur engine run smoother, start easier, and cool her a bit if the A/F ratio is lowered a little..

Cams are not as hard as some think, U just need to know where U want the TQ.
Low-Mid or Mid-High...

On a lighter bike (Softie) ridden solo, Ur dealer will reccommend either the SE 204's or the SE 211's..

The 211's will start making good TQ around 3k rpms' and higher, but are soft in the under 3K rpms without an increase in Compression.

The 204's will start about 2700 rpm's unless U put in a 4* advance gear, then they'll start around 2500 rpms.

If U load up and ride 2 up and don't need/want to keep making TQ above 4500 then the 255 are good cam, though they do have a higher CCC which is harder on the starter without CR's and can ping more than some others if U cant get 93 oct fuel.
