Just bought a 2012 Fat Boy and rode it from Idaho falls, Idaho to Pierre, South Dakota. Needless to say it was painful on the *** after the first 100 miles then every 50 after that.
I'm looking for a great after market one for the long ride so as where my *** doesn't dictate where and when I need to stop.
Its also not just about me, but the wife's *** too. she doesn't think 10 inches is enough. (meaning the with of the seat of course)
For long rides, forget the seat. Go Airhawk. You can order direct or a lot of HD dealers carry. Uses hospital bed technology with a cushion that inflates with only a couple of puffs of air. I've done 12 hour days and felt good enough to cook steaks and drink bourbon afterwards.

From experence I can tell you the 2 best solutions are: purchase "The Ultimate" 2pc seat, it is the best breathable seat on the market, PERIOD. The other option is the medium size AirHawk cushion, front and back. The other options are not the best solutions. The Mustang touring seat is a 7 an a 1-10 scale, The Ultimate is a 10+ on a 1-10 scale
