front tire install
So I stop at Deluxe Harley Davidson/Buell Motor Company in Casper to get a price on a new front tire for my bike. I was told they will not install the tire because of the car tire on the rear of the bike. I ask how about if I bring in the front wheel. They said no because they know my bike. I asked what would happen if I needed warranty work done on the motor. I was told they would have to check on it. I do believe a war will ensue if and when I need warranty work done. (I just ordered a tire at The CHOP SHOP will be installed for free by the way)
There is no way they can deny warranty work on your bike unless they can prove it was something directly related from running a car tire (whatever the hell that would be)
The "Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act" says it all

This sounds like the same clowns that run the stealership in Gillette that has a huge thread about screwing someone in a tire deal. Check it out:

Of course, any dealer that is trying to rip you off will ignore what the manufacturer says and simply state that is is their policy and they don't care what the manufacturer says. The tires these days are so stiff that a plug in the tread portion of the tire will last longer than the tread on the tire. I carry a plug kit in my saddlebag and as long as I can get to air, I can keep going.
Now I can't blame the dealerships, either. Since HD now has an online store for their stuff, the only place that a dealership can make money is through service charges. What an f'd up company this is. It is just like anything else... the standard only applies at the shop that you are dealing with... good or bad dealership, no consequences. I'm glad someone actually posted the dealership's name in this case. I must admit I was impressed with their store when I was there but I didn't have to deal with them.
I decided that I was going to just keep my old bike running because I'm not impressed with the 'improvements' in the new models... until I met Shovelhead Mike at Sturgis. He had just put together a '63 from a basket case and it cost him 20 grand for the parts and he's no slouch as a mechanic. I'm guessing this is a result of the fact that HD wants to make sure that you buy a new bike... so rebuilding your old one will cost more than buying a new one.
Time to start buying totaled Nightrains I guess and collect my own parts bins.
