finally got my 05 fatboy straighten out last night after 2 weeks of popping and backfiring through carb and exhaust. finally pulled carb and completely went through it. found very small amout of something in idle jet. cleaned all jets and passage ways. reinstalled and bike is back to running perfect. now can move on to other things... thanks to those who responded and tried to help
