Stator/Regulator Failure Question
My father in-law has a 2011 Softail Deluxe has a PBR 300x4 amp with 4 6x9 Fosgate Speakers inside extended bags and 1 small renegade amp powering to 3.5 speakers up front.
He had a stock charging system when you had his audio system installed by a audio shop. However we are now a year and a half into having system and his stator failed on him.
The mechanic who worked on the bike stated this was due to his audio system not having an On/Off switch installed on Power Wire for AMP.
He upgraded his stator from a 24AMP to 52AMP and a new regulator. Our concern is that the stator failure will occur again if we don't install a accessory switch.
A. Does this mechanic know what he's talking about?
B. The mechanic was full of crap and the only reason stator failed was because of accessory overload. Now that stator has been upgraded and new regulator installed the issue won't return as long as Amps turn off when bike is turned off.
Thanks guys for any information/advice.
