Default Winter to do list.

I don't think it's to early to start talking about our winters mods list or our wish list. I have to start cutting back if I want to retire soon so I am only looking at getting 1 thing at a time done. I have 2 things going on in my head for this winter. #1 is to pull the heads and make sure they were done and done right and then and if they weren't then get them flowed, ported and polished and then sending them out and getting the Diamond cut on the heads and cylinders or #2 is to get another fender and get it stretched and painted to match the black and white I now have. I was going to paint the bike this winter but it came out so nice in the black and white that I can't bring myself to changing that. If I ever do get paint I will not use or lose these tins, I already have another tank for that if and when I ever decide to do paint. I have always leaned towards performance upgrades over cosmetic upgrades so making sure my heads are done and done right seems to be winning out so far. So much has been done to my bike though that either of those 2 mods will work out just fine. What do some of you guys have in mind? ( and I am not sure I want to know so I don't go getting any new and crazy idea's ). Ride safe, it's BEAUTIFUL out here today.

Front end upgrade is at the top of my list.
The Shotgun ruined me already.

It might be my imagination, but it feels like if I run the rear lower than stock, the front end feels lighter - ie; the jolts to my arms and shoulders seems to get worse the lower the rear is.
Is that possible?
Does running the rear just one inch lower change the center of gravity enough to have a noticeable effect on handling?

I cant give you a technical reason/answer but I sure know what you mean! I picked up my Progressive Monotubes yesterday and will put them in next weekend because whilst the rear end feels great the jarring in the front sure seems to have increased.

Lucky for me I dont need to wait till winter for my mods to begin... although it has hit the minus's the last couple of months we don't get snow down in the city much so we get to ride all year.

I have my rocker pretty much where I want it, but...I do have these disturbing (to my wife...LOL) thoughts of a couple of things I would like to do...new front fork tubes +1", new lifters (36k miles...), new cam Woods 222???? (I only want it to run better and more efficiently...) and change out the cam shoes while in there, etc...and anything else that makes sense while in the cam chest...No actual work on the bike until after the holidays when we switch to snowmobiles...

2003 Deuce:

1) I want to change the handle bars to a one piece drag bar that is higher and has more pull back. I almost feel as though I am leaning forward. When I change out the bars I going to go ahead and change out everything, chrome cables, new grips, and new controls.

2) This week I am replacing the stock aluminum wheel and pulley with a stock chrome wheel and pulley. I found one on ebay so I am going to go ahead and swap them out. While my mechanic has it up on the lift changing those out, I bought some polished brake rotors as wheel and I'll have him put those on.

I have other things on the list to do but those are my two absolute priorities.

Chopper:

I would love to get some new and unique exhaust. I want somethiong unique but I also want it to be reasonable, something with some baffles. I was thinking about getting the WCC Hell Bent Exhaust, anyone have any experience with them? If so let me know.

tbonetoney, let me know how getting the heads diamond cut goes. I have been thinking about that for several years and everytime I see it, the heads look awesome. Keep us updated on that.

Taking it pretty easy this winter. I just will replace the grips, and the speedo on the Heritage. I may replace the Ultra entirely.

I have few things on the list for the Deluxe.

1) Round oil tank (came in last week. Need to get all the fitts and braid SS hose. will also have to relocate coil)
2) Entend the rear fender (just got a cheap donor fender on ebay yesterday)
3) black/gunmetal grey paint job (figured new paint is needed since I am extended rear fender
4) Softbrake bracket to place plate below taillight
5) Beach/Bikini Bars (just not sure which ones and wondering if there is a package that includes all the longer cables needed for switching bars)
6) red LED lights for speedo
7) might add LED headlights

I am looking into buying some land so I am hoping to start building a shop on it this winter.
