Have recently finished by build on a 1990 evo engine. The engine wet sumps badly after full engine rebuild. A new oil pump was also fitted. Any idea's on the what is causing the excessive oil build up in the crank case.
We're going through the wet sump problem on my brothers bike. He took it to the shop with a broken push rod and they convinced him he needed new lifters, push rods, oil pump, and a new cam plate(on a 107 build with 10k on it). They put all these goodies in and the bike couldn't get out of its shadow. We stopped several times on our travels to try and figure it out to no avail. Finally stopped at the Harley dealer in Billings and they found a lot of color in the oil but no smoking gun. Bro gave up and had a friend come an haul him home. I followed him hm after a week at Sturgis and we tore it down. The crank case was full of oil. Sense the HD dealer had tore the cam chest apart we couldn't recon any problem there but suspect the o-ring from the oil pump to the crankcase area was damaged. He's just finishing buttoning it up after fresh cylinders, pistons and valve guides so will pass on if it does the trick.
If I remember correctly, the year wasn't listed in your original post and we assumed you are running a twin cam. Since you're not, please disregard my previous post. You will probably get more help in the EVO section, Some pretty knowledgeable guys over there.
