Anyone out there have these bag stiffeners? http://www.bossbags.com/heritage.htmlCome with locks too. Any drawbacks? Also I'm wondering if I should let my '06 bags experience more weather and shrink a little before installing these. I'd hate to have it start pulling at the rivets. The things we modern day bikers worry about.
There's something about a completely weathered bag too. I can see a gallery of weathered saddlebag pics developing here. Oh the stories they could tell.
Drove over there in January. It's 20 miles from me. They had the bags done in about 20 mins. Excellent job and I love the fact that I can lock them. Don't have any after pics yet. Still snowed in here. I highly recommend this outfit.
Just got mine back today. Shipped last week and they received at Boss lastThursday and were shippedback the same day. They are great looking and very sturdy. Had the longer buckle straps added also and look great, much thicker than origional. The added locke will reLLY COME IN HANDY. vERY HAPPY.
I've checked into 3 different kits. Got Saggy Bags seems real popular on this site, but something about the way the top looks after installation doesn't suit me. Boss Bags are the most expensive, but the best looking. I haven't had them do my bags yet, because I am waiting for Myrtle Beach Bike Week. They are going to do the entire install including detachable hardware and everything. I sent them an email over the weekend asking for a quote, and their ability to handle the install during the event, and he replied before thatMonday. Ialso met them at the MB Fall Rally. They do good meticulous work. They are very customer service oriented and I have no problem allowing them to work on my bike.[sm=smiley20.gif]
new to forum but check this out installed last night in less than 1 hour and they look great http://www.leatherlidinserts.com/index.htmlcomes complete and ships fast 1 week
Compare both of the above against Boss Bags, and then decide. The radius on the lid of the bags on both of the other two are too sharp. They almost look like leather covered hard bags. The Boss Bags retain the look of soft bags, while approaching the durability of hard bags. Plus they are lockable.
I'm wondering if anyone has tried to make there own bag stiffeners? From the looks of the kits, some basic ABS plastic would do the job. Or at least most of it. I'm thinking of tryingLowes or Home Depot to see if there is some type of semi stiff plastic sheets that can be cut toshape and either glued or pressed into place.
If Anyone is in or near Everett Wa and is interested in giving it a run and working together on it, shoot me an email . . .
I may go for it this weekend.
