Default No more lane splitting...

We've always been a bit behind the USA trends but SoCal does have some representation down under. (Apologies for the thumbnails, best I can do at the moment). I've taken inspiration from many bikes on here. I'm enjoying how it's turned out.

Nice bike..

Ain't no way I'd even try LS here in our state. First its again the Law, then the roads are toooo narrow and mostly the cagers would put a HIT on anyone who tries it.

Beautiful bike! No lane splitting in Colorado either and don't know whether I'd do it. Maybe in heavy stop & go traffic.

Nice sled. Lane splitting here would be near suicidal the way cagers drive.

Why are so many afraid to split lanes? I do it, when needed, in traffic that is stopped or moving very slow. I will split to the next exit and go around the back up.

Nice bike ( I think, too small for my old eyes.) As for lane splitting, not on a bagger like mine.

That's a nice looking sled, from what I can tell in those tiny little thumbnails. But it looks good. Hopefully you can figure out how to load up some larger pics, would love to get a better look at her.

And as far as lane splitting is concerned, that's a tough one. When I first moved out to Cali back in 05, it took me a while to get over my fear of riding between cages. But back then I was riding sport bikes which are a lot thinner and easier to maneuver in tight spaces. Once I got used to it, there was no problem at all. But that's California where the cagers are already accustomed to being in close proximity to a bike. After I moved back to Texas, there's no way in hell that I'd do it in moving traffic(too many big trucks). Texas cagers aren't used to it, and they definitely don't like it. But I will split the lanes if I'm stuck behind a lot of cars at an intersection (red light). There's not much the cagers can do in that situation. And it beats waiting in a line for several minutes because we seem to have a lot of heavy-traffic intersections here.

Nice bike. The SoCal homeboy look is worldwide.

Do they allow lane splitting in Australia?

One would think it's not safe, but if you grow up in a state that allows it, it is. Heck, I used to do it in New York too and wasn't sure it was allowed.

You just do it slow and deliberate, not more than 10 to 15 mph than the flow of traffic. Do it only when traffic really is backed up. And don't try spaces you are unsure of. They always open up anyway.

Much safer than your **** out in the wind waiting for someone to hit you from behind on a backed up highway.
