I've seen where guys would weld a steel plate underneath to cut down on wear... and with a cheap enough grade of steel you can get a nice spark show going....

Thanks for the info guys. I had a Softtail before spinal problems kept me from swinging my leg over the seat. Rode for 40 years prior. Started with BSAs, Triumph, Matchless, (all for racing in Ga.) then Yamahas and HD's. Going on a test ride Wednesday. What is the horsepower for this engine?

Stock HP for the 103 is right around 65-70, I think. Hammering on it, it'll do 50 in 1st, 75 in 2nd, and no idea how fast it will top out at. It got a little wild on me at 115, with a good bit of 5th to go. If that's not enough for you, stats on the SE 255 cam bumps that up a lot, for about $800-$1k installed by the stealership.

This seat is low enough that I can literally walk onto the bike from the tail end.

You can "tour" on any bike out there! Anyone who says otherwise, just doesn't have "it" in them anymore! That being said, the seat on the Slim is horrible! You will want to change that out asap. I put the corbin on my Blackline, which is the same seat as the slim, and it made a big difference. Good luck!

Ride it before changing out the seat. I did 400 miles on mine last ride had no problems with original seat.

Oh I forgot to say. I love my slim. I look forward to riding when I am doing almost anything else.

Just did my last 300+mile ride for the year. Would have done more if the sun had stayed out. Definitely good for the long haul with some highway bars and bungee cords to hold stuff you pick up o the way.
