Default License Plate Side mount suggestions, need help!

So i am going to scrap the stock tail light and get rid of my rear turn indicators. I'm going to replace them with a 7" Radiantz LED tail light/turn signal strip. I'm going to put that at the bottom of my fender, but now I need to find a place for my license plate.

I attached some photos of what I got on my bike. I have those mounts for a luggage rack to attach behind the pillion pad. I was thinking of a way to do it there possibly?

I don't know if I want to mount it to the rear axle mount because I intend on getting a swingarm bag to put there, however right now I have saddlebags as well that I throw over occasionally.

Basically, does anyone know how to move my license plate to the left side of the bike (vertically) without interferring with possibly saddlebags, swingarm bag, and luggage rack.

Thanks for the help guys.

Don't know if this helps but here is what I came up with. My mechanic fabricated the bracket so it fits snug in the pulley and it tucks nice behind the swing arm bag. I have not one time ever walked into it like other that protrude way out.

This pic is just after the chain drive swap, I had to tweak the bracket a smidge because the sprocket fits a little different from the pulley. You can see it still is tucked in there nice.

I had my rear fender smoothed out, removed the rear seat screw and license plate whole filled in. It makes for a nice clean look.

The license plate light, back plate and frame can be bought almost anywhere. If you know someone handy with a welder your good to go. It seriously took my guy like ten minutes to fab. Took longer to cut the chrome covers lol...
Hope this helps.

Damn, that looks real nice. You have that attached to the pulley, and is there a light on that for it? I don't have the means to weld or know anyone for that matter to weld anything for me at the moment. I really like the look though.

Aside from that, do you find turning at night to be a challenge without turn signals?

No sorry for the confusion; The plate is mounted to the swing arm. It is tucked in tight to the pulley (now a sprocket). If you look in the catalogs or online catalogs they sell set ups like this without any fabing needed. they just won't fit so snug like mine does. Try Drag Specialties, JP cycles, eBay might even have something. I was going to buy a set up but my mechanic said he could make one that looks better. Otherwise I would have bought an off the shelf bracket. Either way it should look similar to mine. I just thought this is what you were looking to do.

Yes there is a license plate light and when you start looking at those catalogs you will get a million ideas. There are a ton of these side mount plates out there with a vast difference in break light styles to choose from. If your doing a LED break light like you said then you can do what I did and just get one with a little white light for the plate.

If you look at my rear fender struts you will see I have turn signals mounted on them. Again they are low profile and don't stick out much at all. I have no issues with being seen from the rear or either side of the bike at night. I kept the running/break light on the rear fender just for that reason. I didn't want to get killed rideing at night because someone didn't see me. At first I had the light removed and was going to have it mounted to the license plate but at night from the right lane you are invisible to bigger vehicles. I swaped out the stock light for a Tombstone light. I think it works and it's much much safer. I was like you, I wanted a smooth clean look. After thinking things through I wanted some sort of safety also.

24v (Breakout owner) used a 2012 Sportster belt guard to mount his - looks stock, can't tell it's a belt guard AT ALL.

Yeah, I do want the smooth look just a little bit haha. I needed new turn indicators cause my left one got scuffed up and thats when i came across radiantz. so i thought, hey that will solve my turn indicator problem, the LED will make me real visible at night (although not DOT) and I could clean up the fender all in one shot

Charley: I saw that thread, but I only have the one belt guard at the moment and I don't want to chop up stock parts even though the belt guard serves no purpose, I enjoy having the option to put it on or off. Idk why but hacking up frames, fenders and such terrify me

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Stock-Belt-G...-/200973770636

Buy it now price: $17.50

Ask 24v if that one I linked will work - that's a cheap solution IMO.

Charley, thanks for the link, I may actually take a look into that.

Chris, did you make that derby cover or buy it with the bracket attached?
