Best of luck for a speedy recovery Tony. If nothing else at least you have the time for the next round of mods before riding seasons comes around again....
Dayum Tony, the bikes can always be repaired or replaced, us at our ages not so much. Definately glad it was not worse on your end cant believe with the beating you took that you didnt go down. Heal fast my friend.
Thanks to all for the well wishes. I just went out to give the bike a good go over to assess the damage. I can't believe that all I can find is my left highway bar and left floorboard is all the damage the bike took. Like I said, what saved me was it was a "glancing blow". Had I hit him dead on, well, I couldn't imagine that. My leg was not so fortunate though, that's what took the brunt of the blow. Our deer population is just blowing and growing out of control around here. I too think my night riding from now on this time of year will be very limited, not even leaving town and getting out in the country unless I have too.
#1 on this winters mods list just got changed. I am going to find the brightest headlight I can find and put it on my bike. I like my bike without that auxiliary light bar on it with the front end mods I just did but that may be going back on too. Had I had more light maybe I could have seen him a little sooner and reacted sooner. I would suggest/recommend that to all who ride where there is a large animal/game population where you ride too. It really is a good idea I think and the payoff, the trade off by not hitting an animal is HUGE. It was fast though folks, 1 second or less, a blink of the eye. All I seen was a brownish blurr. Like I said, my apes saved me too. His *** went right under them. My stock bars would have caught him and that would have changed everything and not for the better.
Ride safe.

Glad you're okay and not laid up with more broken bones or worse. Are your time and get better.
Was it at night? Just wondering because I've never seen a deer, except during the day and she was trying to jump a fence to get away from the noise...I guess.
