axle question
Ok so all the research I have done tells me a 99 softail has a 3/4" inch axle...why does mine measure 7/8" in diameter? What am i missing?

It is indeed 3/4". Are you measuring the right side of the front axle where it sticks out of the lower leg by chance? Their is a shoulder on that side of the axle that is stepped up to approx 7/8".......just a thought.

The 2004 SE Softail Deuce with the dual front brake rotors has the next size 25MM axle which is slightly larger then 7/8 (.875) at .975 I think. That 3/4 on most like Sage says is the area at the bearing ID. 3/4 is what you want since it is the double row opposing thrust bearings that last 100K plus. The larger axles actually run much weaker bearings.
