this is my first time swapping out the bars on any motorcycle .. any help anyone can give me

You sure that idle/throttle isn't supposed to be 42?

I have 14" apes on my Breakout with stock Fatboy risers and here is what mine are.
Clutch - 68"
Front Brake - 48"
Throttle and Idle - 38.5"

My Son inlaw just did Carlini gangster 16" Apes on his 2013 Fatboy with ABS on stock risers. He went with 42.5" throttle and Idle cables. Clutch was 74" and 48" for the upper ABS Brake line.

I know to mock em up but measure from handlebar to clutch point or beyond ? etc etc .

is this correct ? do you leave extra room for the cables to move ?

Some times it is as simple as measuring what you have now then just add the needed length for bar rise and width.

If you know that your stock bars are 32" wide 7.75" high and 7" pullback the if your new bars are 38" wide 16" tall and 12" pullback you would add the extra height and width needed the subtract the difference of pullback. in this case it would be +9 for cables. Remember that there is a few inches extra slack in the stock cables so +8 would be a good fit.
