Full coverage or liability
Just wondering if you had (or have) your harley paid off, what insurance coverage do you have...full coverage or liability only. Reason asking is that I currently have 2 cars with full coverage, 1 car with liability only, my Harley with full coverage and another harley on the way...full coverage coming. So now I am thinking about dropping my insurance coverage on my bike down to liability only with the rational of I can purchase tank, fenders and some other parts for my deductable I would pay if I had an accident. What ya think?

Have you priced Harley parts?A friend(used to be anyway)laid over my Fatboy at about 5 miles per hour in a ditch with mostly grass/sand mixtureand did over $2500 worth of damage. Also with theft being so high on these things I guessI'm keeping full coverage but you need to do the math and see what makes sense. Thats a good looking bike you have.
For the one claim I submitted to Progressive, the damages from dropping the bike in a parking lot far exceeded the deductible. If I had just liability, I would be out much more than I care to pay. So, I suggest full coverage. My bike is on the car policy, now AutoOwners, and cost $600 per year for full coverage with $250 deductible.
However, I think moderator Heather C (from IN) is an insurance agent, and you might want to ask her directly.
Question: what is the license plate on the red car in your picture? Thanks

Mine's paid off, and I have full coverage through Drive Insurance (Progressive). I used to carry only the legal minimum, with no collision. I figured if I get into a wreck on a bike, the bike is gonna be the least of my worries. A couple days after getting this one, I thought to myself, "You know, I just paid $25k for this mother... so maybe full protection might not be a bad idea for an extra $200 a year."
My Harley is a 2002 and I've had full coverage on it the whole time since that year. Where I got screwed was the deductible amount. My agent had set it up for a $1000 "collision" deductible because that was how my autos were set up on the full coverages. Had an incident happen in my driveway where the bike fell over while I wasn't on it and the fall dent my tank. To purchase a new tank and install it would have cost over $900. But the insurance company labeled the incident as "collision" which falls under the $1000 deductible and not "other than collision" which was the $250 deductible. Used the language that the bike collided with the ground and not something colliding with bike such as hail, fire, etc. So basicly I got screwed on a technecality. But that changed the next day when I chewed my agent's butt and had the deductibles for "collision" and "other than collision" made the same at $250 on both. That way the insurance company wouldnt have a way of "squirming" out of it. The price difference was about $50 more a year for the lower deductible. Would have made a heck of a lot of difference in this particular incident. [:@]
Might have a bit of difficulty finding him since he/she does list location in Profile. His/her bike has the same NK plate.

I have a Truck (POS)that is paid off and two bikes paid off (over $50k)... In Washington State Insurance is not required for Motorcycles that are paid for... But I love the Bike and I hope it nevers see's the pavement or any loss or damage, but if it did I want the most I can get out of it. I went through HD and I have Foremost with a $250.00 deductable, they cover an additional $5000.00 in upgrades including Leather and Helmet. Both bikes it is an Annual $960.00, I have the minimum I can carry in the state for the truck...
