Raising a Fat Boy Lo
I'm interested in raising my Lo so I have more lean angle for mountain riding. The Fat Boy Lo has a ground clearance of 4.8". The regular Fat Boy has a ground clearance of 5.1". Is this clearance difference due to shock adjustment, or completely different shocks?

Are you sure about those ground clearance numbers? I would have thought it would be a full inch difference since as another poster stated the Lo's suspension is 1" lower. I've thought about doing the same thing. I mainly bought the Lo for the already blacked out parts vice the lowered suspension. Right now I'm in Florida so there's no need.

LOW down
I just put the shotgun shocks on mine and feel no adverse affects on handling when I top it out for clearance issues. I know when looking for cartridge kits for the front end they told me it was the same part number for the low and regular softail. I'm still confused on the front end though but that's what I was told.

I recently experimented and raised the height of an 08 Deluxe for a riding buddy of mine. He complained that the bike sat to low for our riding conditions and scraped in the turns. I swapped out his stock shocks and installed OEM shocks from an 03 Fatboy. The front forks were not altered. The rear gained an inch in height. It took a few test rides to get the preload adjusted correctly but once dialed-in, the bike handled perfectly and he no longer worries about ground clearance or scraping in turns. This was all experimental but the results were positive.
