It has a Harley battery in it now. The old one came from Harley but wasnt tagged as such. After a minute with the meter connected the draw goes down to 0. It starts out at .5 then goes to .4 and .3 and after .3 is 0. I have done every test i can think of to do and yet I can not find the issue. This thing can sit for days and fire right up and then run for a hour and be dead when I try to start it back up.
This bike is making me crazy. It will run for an hour and then not restart but can sit for days and start up with no problems. Its almost to the point that we have to carry a jump box around with us when we go out cause its likely that it will not start. Some friends and I are supposed to go on a trip but I just dont know if that is gonna happen due to the issues with my bike. When I got the bike it had a similar issue just not as bad and the dealer said it was the battery and sent me on my way. The last time was the last straw. Rode it 30 miles with no issues. Stopped for lunch for 2 hours and started back up fine. Get it home and it sits 20 minutes then wont restart until its jumped.
does it crank over or click or sound like a relay opening closing as you hit the switch? im starting to think you have a battery shorting itself out or is low on water/acid
it cranks over very slow until it just stops and the relay clicks. I thought battery at first but when it did this last year the dealer put a new battery in it and said it was fine and that was just before the end of riding season last year. New battery again and still doing it but I dont have a clue whats causing it. Is it possible that the kill switch is causing it? If we jump it the bike fires right up though..
Again, this isnt the case everytime either

put a new battery in it... look at the tags or numbers on the battery and try to get the newest freshest battery on the shelf.... its possible that battery is a year old before you got it.
I recently did just that at the local dealer. Now I just want to try and make sure that I won't have any problems on my trip this coming weekend. If its still acting up I will have to cancel and I really do not want to do that. However being stuck in Carolina with a bike that will not start isn't any good either.
