Hand porting heads
When I sold it, the potential buyer brought one of his Harley buddies to check it out and take it for a spin. After his "expert" checked it out; the buyer asked him what he should offer. The guy said "just pay him what he wants; don't try to dicker with him, just write him a check. If you don't, I will." That made me feel better about letting it go...

If one is not careful or knows what one is doing you can hurt your heads far more and easier then you can help them or improve them. If you going to take them off why not just go all the way and have them done by a professional?
Yep; great bike. Like I said, and others have echoed; best to let the pros do it.

Harley engines are very sensitive about their exhaust-to-intake ratio. They run best when that ratio is around 90 percent, but factory levels are more like 78 percent. A good porting job can give you the optimal exhaust-to-intake ratio for your Hog, but a bad one can make it worse.

personally I prefer to start with a better head. The Harley Screamin Eagle Performance heads can be found NOS on ebay very resonable. I have purchased sets at 50% or less with Make Offer auctions. A few dollars more for shipping and they are on your door step in a couple days.

Try typing in the numbers on ebay and see what is available. I think if you double click on my thumbnails the picture will enlarge to read

More additional information can be found here also. BTW, the "Dewey's Pegs" link he provided is excellent. I've purchased some of his products; top notch IMO. Additionally, if I could have afforded the SE heads, that's the direction I would have gone.

I appreciate all the advice guys and scrimnvtwin thx for the spreadsheets and info. I'm just hoping to end up with some better flowing heads than these stock EPA crap heads for not a lot of coin. At this point I've ruled out hand porting them.
