Default Wind deflectors

Does anyone have a manufacturer of wind deflectors besides HD? HD is charging at least $66.50 for these things and I'd like to find a lower price. Also any comments from anyone that has them on their bike would be appreciated. Do they really work that well?

I have the HD wind deflectors on my '06 FLSTCI. They look nice, but don't do much in the way of deflecting wind. The only real advatage I can see is they tend to stabilize the front end at highway speeds. On the other hand, the yreflect back quite a bit of engine noise and they get an annoying vibration at certain RPM's. If I was to do it again, I would not waste my money on the wind deflectors.

Great, I was hoping to find some that would at least cut down on the amount of wind coming up from under the windshield. Getting tired of having my beard up in my face

I know exactly what you are saying, and I wish there was an easy solution.

In all my years of riding I've never had a windshield on any of my bikes and wondered what I was missing.

I recently purchased a FatBoy, and was glad to see that it came with the detachable HD windshield, but I'm not the least bit happy or impressed when the windshield is mounted.

I've tried 3 different shields, ranging in width from 22" to 24" and height (from headlight cutout) from 18" to 22", and everyone of them gives the same results. They do a great job of blocking the forward air stream and sending it over my head, but the air coming from under the windshield and up each side of the gas tank is crazy.

I prefer having the wind hit me from the front, instead of from below where it tries to blow my glasses off and pull my shirt over my head. [8D]

Try a Jack's Flaps vest.
He's a vender with the forum and It'll work for what you want.

I have the Harley wind deflectors on my Heritage Softail. I put them on because with the windsheild I was getting a lot of helmet and eyeglass buffeting from the wind coming under the shield. These deflectors made a tremendous improvement, and I can ride now at whatever speed I wish with my glasses and helmet not bouncing around. Once I put them on and experienced the change, they were worth every penny.

I agree with Tommy M. If you are talking about lowers.
Wind deflectors on the touring bikes may be different.
And for 65.00 its a steal.
I had the memphis shades lowers on a VTX I owned and they were ok but plastic and were more than 65.00 and marked up your fork tubes.
Chrome ones were over 120.00 by jett inc.

They work,
What they do by design is catch the rushing air and shoot it straight up the back/inside of your windsheild, thus creating a upward rush of air, when all of this is going on it gives your face a little rest as you ar not being as blasted head-on by the air that normally would come over the top of your windshiled if you dont have them.

The one other thing I noticed is the stablization of the front end at higway speeds as mentioned above.

And th e little vibration/ noise issue, can be rid of by re-tighting the mounting bolts every 1000 miles or so. Mine make the same noise and every time, I find one of the bolts loose on one of the 2 sides.

Get em'. I was skeptical at first but it makes a big differance. No more jacket collar slapping me in the face. And helment buffeting is practically gone. Worth the money, especially on long trips.

I also agree with Tommy M. After I added the windshield to my Deluxe, got some really bad buffeting to the old head. Added the HD chrome wind deflectors, and have been up to 85 with almost no buffeting. Well worth the $$$'s.
