Default Top Motor Mount

I am doing some heavy chrome work on my 12 SD. I bought a chrome top motor mount..It came in 2 pieces. I assembled it, and found that once the original mount was removed, the chrome one wouldnt fit even though I assembled it as close to the original one as I could. On the chrome one, the top part that fastens to the frame has elongated holes for the bolts just like the original one does. I had to put the new chrome mount on in the following sequence

1. mount the cylinder bracket (lower half) to the front and rear cylinder heads
2. mount the top half of the top mount to the frame
3. bolt the 2 halves together through the elongated holes after each half was installed

If I mounted it as one piece, the cylinder bracket bolt holes in the cylinder heads would not match up.

Here is my question...

Is there a procedure for replacing that mount that I am not aware of, or that is not in the manual? The manual doesnt say much about it other than the torque specs and using lock tite..When I removed the original mount, did the engine shift a little thereby off setting everything?.. Do I need to somehow straighten the engine if it did shift??

Any help would be appreciated..

Maybe a check of the other motor mount bolts is in order. When I had my engine apart I re-assembled it with no mismatch issues. It could be a combination of a new mount and a small amount of movement. If you were able to get it back together, it couldn't have moved much.

Thanks...What I did was after adjusting the new chrome mount and tightening everything down, I removed it, and set the old one in place..The old one fit perfectly..Thats proof that nothing moved..

I installed one on my Rocker by leaving the bolts loose on the mount already with loctite for tightening it up once mounted.
