Default Coil Relocation Wire Length

Hey Guys,
I' doing a coil relocation and need to figure out the wire length. I'm getting the ignition wires from Magnum. They have a custom wire page (link below). I want to use a 90 degree on the coil and a 45 degree on the spark plug and am thinking the 45 needs to be canted 45 degrees to the left for the right plug 45 degrees to the right for the left plug. I'm trying to figure out the correct length to put in this order chart? The distance form plug tip to coil is 6" on both sides. This is a straight distance. I'm thinking about 8.5" would give a nice flowing curve to the wire?

I have contacted Magnum and DK Customs for advice. DK suggested using an old wire as a guide. This yielded the same 8.5" measurement.

Anyone that has ordered wires or did a custom job that can help? Any help is most appreciated.

I used 8.5" US Koolines in chrome with a DK kit, 90 degrees on both ends for my Slim. It created a nice "flowing curve" and the 90 degree ends forced the wire to stay away from the tank.

AHH this is good info. and exactly what I'm looking for. Is the 8.5" measurement from end to end or the length of the wire itself (not including boots)? I can easily go with a 90 degree on the plug end.

Can you post a picture?

8.5" includes the first half of the boot up to the 90 degree mark. I'll get some pics up tomorrow.

The second photo shows a test fit for an HD coil cover. The options are very limited for covers that fit this coil and the one in the pic is not doing it for me. It seems there may be a market for coil covers that work for those with relo kits installed, I know I would be very interested.

DK Customs... you may be missing a bet with your relo kits and no coil cover offerings! Just saying'

I've been experimenting with altering an arlen ness horn cover to fit as a way to create some more interest on this side of the bike. They make one that will hold a standard timing cover, so maybe this will work for me.

Thanks for the pictures, this helps a lot. I'm using the newer style coil cover. I think they started this cover in 06? I had to heavily modify the coil and not everyone is prepared to do this. I'll make sure I post up pics when I'm done.

They offer a bracket that allows you to use stock cover, but ya, they should definitely get into custom ones.
