Geeting stuff together to do stage 1 mod but been deployed for the last 6 months the bike only have 151 miles. Should I wait until hit the 500 miles ck out at the dealer or go ahead and install all. Planning to do it myself as soon as I return and not spend $$$$ at the dealer . What do you guys recomend? Did stage 1 affect warranty if I do the installation?
Any modifications effect the warranty if and only if that modification is the cause of a problem.
I put my Stage I kit on my bike at 770 miles, so I did the 500 mile break in first. But it's up to you.
On my second Harley now. Did stage on on first new Harley in 08. No problems with warranty. On my second new Harley, my current 13 Heritage, no problems yet. I put my slip on's on myself on the Heritage. Took me about 40 minutes total and they wanted to charge me two hours labor, lol.
I also find doing the minor upgrades myself is more satisfying.
Thankyou for serving your country in this most con traversal time. I was stationed down at the Naval security group northwest down HWY 17 on the state line back in the late eighties.
I did a complete oil/filter change at 100 miles, switched to synthec. Then after the first dealer inspection, changed exhaust/air to stage one. Another tip, use ABS safe brake cleaner on rooters once in awhile. Be carefull using spray, read instructions. I have wheels suspended to spray rotors while using a new lint free cloth.
