Curious to know if anyone has changed Fuel Injector size on the motor. I have 34# injectors now and am thinking of installing 42# instead. 42's are what come standard on police edition cruisers.
Wondering if there would be any other problems I may encounter. Wouldn't think I would need to remap considering its more of a timing process than anything else.
Sounds intriguing, but then I ask the question, why would you? Pumping more fuel in sounds great and all, but unless you're going to drag it then the hassle of getting the proper mixture and dyno'd and re-mapped and fuel management and all that seems more hassle than just cranking the throttle if you want more gas going in.
I have a 4-year old bike with 72K and nothing more performance-wise than a stage 1 and I can go from 60 to 90 with just a flip of the wrist and about 2 seconds.... plenty of gas going in for me!!
Yes you would need to remap. Injectors open and close for a set amount of time to deliver the amount of fuel required. If you put an injector in that delivers more volume, then you need to reduce the amount of time it is open.
If you have not made any significant engine modifications though, there is no reason to increase injector size. You might as well just pull some hundreds out of your wallet and light them on fire instead.
The overall plan is to upgrade the throttle body, cams, valves, and port the heads....just wondering how long I have before disaster strikes or if I should do it all in one shot. Obviously I know I would have to remap after all that, just didn't know if changing the injectors first off would need remapping.
Wait and do it all in one shot. You'll need to get it tuned to realize all you've put into it and why do it miltipl3 times. Your head porter will give you the best advice for all the above if he's a good one.
Why not wait and do all at once, after talking to or letting a good builder help you put a decent build together. I mean the right cams, the right port job and then I would not just do a remap...
For me I'd look for the best Tuner I could afford that's around and have her dynoed to get the most out of the build.
don't forget Pipes can and will make a big diff also.
