Hello I wanted to buy my dad a newexhaust for his Harley Davidson for his birthday. Saved up my mowing and shoveling money. Talked to a man at the dealer ship and he recommended Vance & Hines, but then the man started talking about efi race tunersand before I new it he said like $1000 dollars. I told him that was more then I can afford and he told me about a thing called slip-ons and said if I bought him rush slip-ons I would not need all that other stuff and it was in my price range of $400 dollars. My question is are they any good and if so on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being the lowest. How much louder then his stock exhaust will the be, noticeable.[:-]
you can use rush slip-ons with up to 2" baffles without needeing to remap or use tuner. i put the 2" on my 07 fxst and love them. i would say as compared to stock, they would be 7-8'ish. my opinion would be to go with the 2" and i will bet he will be happy.
I just installed the Rush Slip-ons, on my 2006 Standard. They look good and they sound even better. I found the 2 inch baffle plenty loud. It has that deep harley tone to them. If later you find them too loud the baffles can be changed for about $60 a piece. The average price seems to be around $250 for them for the set of silp-ons.
I have the 2.25" but wish I had the 2".
They all have a great sound they just get louder with bigger baffles.
My dealership only stocked the 1.75" and the 2.25" they want $270 plus install that may be why yours wants $400.
My sales guy did the same thing to me, new muffler, new air cleaner, new redo on the computer about $800.
I just did the exhaust. I told them we'd do all that other stuff later.
so what you are saying is he won't need a down load, ore anything with them?
The dealer told me, when you only do the exhaust you don't have to. But with anew Air Cleaner it's really important.
It would give him a litle more power if he did, but he doesn't have to get one.
He can always do it later.
