Default Deuce Handlebar Suggestion???

I need to bring back my bars about another 2 inches to be really comfortable. Any suggestions? Would love not to have to change cables and brake line if possible. I know, I know, I have a lot of issues if you have been reading my other threads. Just trying to make this bike as comfortable as possible for me................

I have a similar problem with my Custom's mini apes. I damaged my right arm/elbow some 20 years ago I can't extend my arm as far as normal and I have somenerve and circulation damage. So even with the bars tipped back my hand and fingers cramp up, hurt and start to go numb after 30 or so miles.
So I looked at all of the HD bars in the catalog, you can get the specs from the on line web site if you don't have a "wish" book. Then I compared all the bars measurments against the stockers and I "think" I may have found a better set. Thebars that I found might also be what your looking for, the HD Bombay's.
There are a couple of versions of it, but the one I'm interested in is the model with the tach housing built in. Unfortunatly its also a bit pricey from the stealers at around $340 or so. The other versions do run a bit less if your interested in them.

I was facing much the same thing. I wanted the bars on my Deuce back but I was looking for even more than you were. I ended up with a set of late model FLST bars that I very much like. These seem to be the same bars as on a Softail Standar. I tilt them back at the same angle as the risers to they don't stick up in the air like apes (or Standard bars) but come back instead. I'm about 5' 8" and my sleeve length is 32". I find these pulled back bars very comfortable. They allow me to sit up straight.

I had to use +4 on my throtle and idle cables. Harley gave me the choice of +2 or +6 on the clutch, I went with the +2 and it worked OK. For the brake line a universal 47" line was used with stainless banjos. Just a note - if you make up your own brake line go with a 35 degree (10mm) banjo on the bottom and the brake linewill follow the fork very nicely. The stock bottom banjo is 90 degree (all bottom banjos are 10mm and our tops are 12mm). I routed my brake line through the stock clamp under the triple-tree and through the upper clamp on the upper tree. I got the cables from Harley, the brake line and fittings from J&P. In the end there wasn't much change left from a $300 bill after the new cables were on.

What about a seat that would bring you closer to your current
bars?

Kong........great info, I will check into this and is a consideration. Did you mean FXST standard? I don't think there is an FLST standard?

Canuck..........Thought about that also but haven't done to much research in that area. Seems like it would be more difficult to find both a comfortable seat and a seat that moves me forward.

I have the HD Deuce chrome handlebars, they pull back 1 1/2" more than the stock Deuce bars.
and my Mustang vintage solo seat moved me up a little bit also.[8D]

Just reading from the tag that was on the bars:

J&P part number 5000838
1" Late Model REPL. Bars 87-05
FLST Classic 31" W, 11.5" R, 5" Pullback.

Just a note, that rise overstates the actual bar dimension. If you measure them the way Flanders does it comes out to something a lot closer to 7" or so of rise. That's something to take note of if you're looking at bars from different venders - they all don't measure bars the same way.
