Question 08 Train - Whats the Max front wheel width std setup?

Hi,

I am looking for a wider front tyre for my 08 night train.

My current std rim is 21" 2.15" so I am guessing a 90-110 width is good for this rim. What tyre manufactures do a 21" 110 or similar. All I can find are 120/70 that will not be safe on the rim??

If I buy a new wheel and go for a 21" 3.00/3.50 I can fit a 120/70 on it. Will this bolt straight on or will the front fender need modding? How easy is this to do??

I would like a black rim and stainless spokes - are their any wheels I can pickup from the std Harley range (cheap/used) that will just bolt on and give me a much wider looking from tyre than my skinny 90??

Thanks!

I just ordered a 23" X 3.5" wheel for my 08 train. It did not change the wheel spacers or axle size. I am NOT running a front fender, if you are this is where I can see a 3" wide wheel not fitting. Here is a link to where I got my wheels from.

You could also find a 3.5" wide 21" diameter hoop and have it powdercoated black and laced onto your hub and stock spokes. that may be your cheapest route instead of ordering a whole wheel

I think we are going to run a 130mm tire on the 3.5"

I've just recently installed a 3.5" wheel on my 2008 NT and it was quite easy.

Thanks guys - anyone know what size will work with my fender or a cheap mod to make things work?

Thanks piper - a used 3.5" hoop and reusing hub is a good idea! What did your 23" cost??

All there is in 21" is 80/90 or 90/21 for the 2.15 rim. You can do a 3.25 or 3.5 rim with a 120-70-21 tire but then your stock fender will not fit.

Thanks drew - if I go with a different size apart from 21" does that change things much??
