I am contemplating adding a fairing to my Heritage for the long trips.
I really like Woody's fairings, but there seems to be little or no room for an amp. Has anyone found a work around for installing one?
I have a woodys fairing on my fatboy. First off Glenn is great to deal with and makes a great product. I would recommend either calling or emailing him. With that said I have a rockford fosgate that I will be mounting on top of the head unit before spring gets here. Once I get it done I will post some pics.
I just ordered a faring from Woody for my Roadking. I have the same question. Woody said there is no room for a amp. I'm hoping that there is a way to add a amp some how.I really like his faring, but I want to make sure I have enough volume at highway speed.
Ive had my Woody Faring now for about 3 years I installed a Jensen Marine Sirius ready unit in mine. I just added the litttle reciever and the antennae for Sirius this summer there was enough room for that also i have a harley tach in my fairing too that takes up quite a bit of room theres more room in there than you think and with all the new technology im sure amps arent as big as they used to be, I would have to say that it CAN be done. On another note all my riding here in Colorado is at 70-75mph and with my unit and Glenns speakers my volume is usually at 30 it only goes to 40 and its way loud enough I even listened to a Broncos game one day on the way home in the fall and heard every play no prob.
I put mine in the saddle bag.velcroed it in,ran wires to it with no problems.no,I didn't worry about taking bag off and if I did it's not that hard to just pull it out with wires in place.velroe is a wonderful thing.not saying you can't put one in fairing but this was a lot simpler.
Thanks for the responses.
I talked to Glenn and he said the door on the weather resistant cover swings up and in, which takes up about half the space above the head unit. I found one that is made by the same company (Seaworthy) that swings outward. I'm sending it to Glenn for him to use on my fairing instead of his version. I will post some pics of it and my amp setup once my fairing arrives.
