Default looking for advice and assistance please

Hi All,

ive just finished customising a suzuki m109 and want to do a heritage or deluxe for my next project.
BUT, i have a few questions..hoping i can get some advice and help here (?)

im interested in a springer front end, but want to know if i can buy a complete springer front (lights, springer assy etc), and swap out a standard heritage/deluxe with that?- and if so, where to get it from, and how much etc.

the reason i want to know is that im a bit torn over what exactly i want to do with the customisation.. im half thinking of doing a gangster styled hard bagged bike, or a non bagged retro styled bike using a springer...or end up doing a hybrid retro/hard bagger..

either way, to be able to have the option to de-bag and swap between 2 styles would solve my dilemma.

im not really familiar with HDs specifically, so im not sure if its possible to swap out an entire front end, and what the cost is.

since im going to be leaving the back end pretty much the same for both styles (i can simply put the bags on or off relatively easily), then it comes down to what is possible at the front.

im also wondering what is required to do a lowered front springer with a 21" wheel.

hoping to get some help.
cheers,
tim

I think the Deluxe is the best platform to do or to start a custom bike with but as you can see I am somewhat biased. I don't have the answer to your question but as of late I to am interested in the answers to these questions too. I also see that you commented that the rear will stay as it is. If you spend a lot of time here you will see what a lot of guys, including myself, have done to our rear suspension and you might rethink that too. Good luck and I will be following your thread too.

thanks for the reply. actually what i meant was that the rear will be the same for both styles of bike- regardless of the front end.

im planning to do pretty much what everyone does at the rear..air ride with true duals.

but for the deluxe front end, i personally think the baddad or similar stretvched hard bags suits ..whereas if i go for the springer, then either soft bags or no bags is the look.

the front wheel will be the same..but the springer forks and springs, and the headlight assembly, as well as the fender (i think) are different.

what i had in mind was doing a springer, slammed rear, true duals, lowered front end, 21" front wheel...

prior to that i was thinking of just doing a slammed bagger, deluxe. The thing with that was that i was originally thinking of a road king, but then i wanted the flexibility to be able to take the bags off..and i couldnt do that with a roadie (i dont like the struts)..

then i got seduced by a couple of nice springer pics and videos..i have a soft spot for retro styling..but also for the gangster theme..so i thought, maybe i could try a hybrid retro/gangster (i.e. springer front and hard bag rear), and if that didnt look any good, i could still go for either look just by having a set of springer front and hard bags for the rear..almost 3 bikes in 1..

the best of 3 different worlds..i like to chop and change a bit, so i thought that this might be the way to go..if it costs $2k-$3k, then thats probably worth it to be able to mix and match 3 quite different looks.
