I have 14" apes on my 06 softy and my apes at the base about 12-14" wide. I was going to run a solo swingarm bag but my cholo pipes wont allow one. I really just need a smaller bag for some tools and maybe a few small items. I cannot seem to find any pictures of any mounted across the handlebars .any ideas would be great.

You're riding a softail, right? Get a chrome toolbox or two. Not as ugly as a bag hanging on the front of your bike.
I went with both a tool bag and swingarm bag. Found saddleman highwayman tool pouch fit fine, good quality and reasonable. I got the 12x4x5-1/2 tool pouch and holds all my essencials like glasses, wallet with bike paperwork, rag to wipe down my garman and leathertool. Still have room for something else. Just find better tiedown straps, comes with nylon which I switched out to leather. Went to Jafrum MC Gear and got it in short time. If my wallet can remember it was like $23.
I got the one in the pics from Licks Cycles. It's made of very high quality thick leather with thick stitching and looks pretty good to me. It runs about a hundred dollars but in my opinion you're definitely getting what you paid for. It has slots in the bag to run the strap around your risers or whatever either up and down or around i.e. risers. Quality all around really.
Hey Motown, talk to this guy and show him the bag on your left side rear fender strut bag and by the way, do you have one of those bags on the right side rear strut Motown? MickMock, I think you might like Motowns small bag. If I ever went with something that's the route I would go myself. I think his actual name here is Motown stag??? I'm pretty sure. I just call him Motown, look him up or give him a shout.
