Default Buying a Heritage

If you were to buy a Heritage, what year(s) would you look for and why?

I'd go with the newest one I could get in my price range.
2000-2006 88ci, 5 Sp
2007+ 96ci., 6sp (last few years 103ci).

I personally like the 07-08 models, in '09 there were a few things tweaked (console, handlebars, etc.).

Or if your looking for a stripped down Heritage (no bags, no windshield, less chrome), they made that in 2006 only.

I love my 09, but I wouldn't mind the extra few horses with the newer 103 ci.
But I wouldn't pay extra for 7 ci.

I'd go with the 2007+.
96/103 ci and 6 speed tranny.

My minimum requirement would be a 2007+ because of the 6th gear. I don't care about the engine size because I'm going to mod it anyway but a 103 would be nice.

A 2010, 'cause that's what I ride :-)

Seriously, I really like having a 6th gear and 96 cubic inches is big enough for me.

Thanks for the input. My brother is actually the one looking. He specifically wants a Heritage (I dont know the difference between the classic and deluxe) that is white, with bags, windshield, passenger backrest, etc. I told him '07+ too for the 6 speed Trans, but wasn't sure it was worth an extra 3-4k for an '12+ (Prices around here seem to be around 13.5 for an '07-'09 and 16.5+ for a '12).

Everything would be relative to the price of the bike but:

2007 models had anomalies. Off-set wheels and 5th gear transmission whine.

2006 was the last year for carburetors if you want to stay away from EFI.

I have to agree that the 2012 with the 103 and ABS would be a good platform.
