I'm needing a new windshield for my '06 Heritage, and was wondering what people thought of the Klock Werks Flare or Long Ride Recurve Shields. I really dislike the way the wind gets under (over?) my stock Nostalgia shield and flips my mustache up until I look like Snidley Whiplash when I dismount. From the searches I've done, it "seems" a recurve might correct that, but I've never seen anyone actually say it does for sure. Can anyone tell me if a recurve/flare actually does eliminate the mustache/beard flip? And what are the pros and cons between the Long Ride and Klock Werks, other than the difference in price? Thanks.

I was able to replace the stock H-D 18" screen with a 16"er from LRS with no loss of protection.
The recurve definitely helps throw the air over your head.
But it probably won't help much with the buffeting you're getting since it's mostly coming from underneath - which is why your 'stache flips UP.
A pair of "fangs" (wind deflectors) might help in that department.
I ran across your review while researching, and bookmarked it. That's one of the reasons I wanted to ask about the LRS. I'm not a fan of fangs, so I'll keep looking for other cures. Thanks for your response. (I also noticed your black Slim looks great with the LRS -- way to go.)
I came across this past winter a Klock Werks 21" shield that I just couldn't pass it up.
Well the last couple of days have been in the 70s and I've been able to put about 3 hours behind this shield and my 09 Heritage.
I'm very happy with it and knowing what I do now, I would have no problem paying full price for one. I have no buffering and the wind flow is very minimal. There is no doubt that this Flare windshield helps with the wind flow.
I do also have the fangs.
Personally, I don't see how you can add anything else that will minimize the wind other than rolling up the window.
Great review hadn't seen that one before. I have a Long Ride 18" light tint on order to replace my 21" that was on when I bought it. The 21" on it now the top edge is directly in my eyes so I have to lean down or raise up which makes me less comfortable so the 18" should be perfect for me. I also have the HD Fangs, they help the under flow tremendously and are great for when it is cold but stop way too much air for when it is hot. I only run them once is below 65. The fangs only help me and do nothing for the wife so I am hoping the LRS will be a plus for both of us, I can see over it and it will throw the wind up and over to help her.
I have a LRS shield and love it. With the promotional discounts it cost about $100 with shipping. I also have the fangs and with this shield I have less wind noise and no buffeting.
With the shield and fangs I was still under $200.00 for the setup.
I was looking at the new HD shield, but could not convince myself it was worth $400 plus to add a mail slot to the front of the bike.

Thanks - and as far as the fangs go, I've seen here where guys (who also didn't like their looks) replaced the chrome fins with clear plexiglass...
You still get the protection without the barn doors hanging off your forks...
What detachable mounting hardware is everyone using for their windshields. It seems LRS's only sells the windshield itself but I'll be starting from scratch...??
TIA
