Default Question

I have posted here a few times looking for some advice/knowledge regarding my Deuce, but I am beginning to wonder if I am like one of a handful of people here who rides a deuce, yes, no, maybe? I see threads for other softail models, but far and few between for my bike, why is that? This is my first Harley and I chose a bike that I have a love hate relationship with, but I am making this thing into a beast and I think from other posts I've browsed here I could gain alot of general knowledge.

The Deuce was discontinued for lack of sales, plain & simple. From what I can gather, a lot of people disliked the rear fender & the stretched tank, but I think the fender is the bigee, I'm not crazy about it myself. Also, buying accessories for a Deuce can be a nightmare whether from HD or aftermarket suppliers. As you already know I'm sure, "fits everything except FXSTD". It's the Harley fair-haired stepchild for sure. That being said, I love not having a bike which you don't see many of, makes it special IMO, & discontinued models often have a higher resale value. Speaking of not seeing many, I have seen SIX Deuces since I got my '07, that tells me something..

From what I've seen, the parts that won't fit a Deuce have to do mainly with the seating and front end. Most other parts that will fit a like year Softail of another model will fit. The rear fender is different but I certainly don't hate it like others do. And I think the stretched tank is great. Almost bought one myself, but it was gone when I was ready. Embrace the difference!

While the Deuce does have a few minor inconveniences, it's a great bike. I like having a bike that doesn't look like 80% of the other ones. I think mine is very nice, but it's certainly not a custom by any stretch of the imagination. It's just nice. However, I rarely go anywhere that someone doesn't either ask me what model it is or say how much they like it.

I've run into a few situations where 'Except Deuce' thwarted my search but all in all I'm very happy with the bike. In a couple of years I'm going to move up to a touring model and hope to be able to keep the Deuce.

Yeah, I have an intense love hate relationship with mine, but everyone seems to like the hot rod triked out deuce lol, finding parts is a challenge for sure, but so far I make it work. I just want to get to know some folks who might help me increase my bike knowledge and skill level so I can wrench on mine, bounce some ideas of folks and such. I have the mechanical inclination, just can't seem to find the folks who might know something when I don't.
