Something no one mentioned. Tire sizes vary more than you would think from one manufacturer to another. A 150 made by company A might be a 1/3 inch wider than a 150 made by company B. I did find one 160 tire that ran "small" and would probably work. But you would be hard pressed to see the difference between it and a 150 Dunlop so it was like "whats the point"

Excellent point!! When I was debating swapping to a 150 on my Slim, I was measuring the section width on a 150 Michelin stock mounted on a 48. The difference between that and my stock Slim tire was right at or less than 1/8". I was like no way. But then I saw a Dunlop D401 mounted and I was like holy cow!!

Very interesting.
The stock MU85B16 is 5.51 in width; the 401 you mention is 6.15.
Not bad, quite a difference I'd say and both can go on the stock wheel I think.

In the 401 series, there's also a 160/70B17 that measure 6.33. Not sure it would be worth to get this 160 (have to change rim and so on..) to gain a 0.18 from the above mentioned 150

Anyone knows about a wider 150?

Was actually looking at the Michelin Commander 2, attached is a picture from their website.

I cannot find the width of those 2 one highlighted in the picture. Both fit a 16 wheel and I am wondering if both can be suitable option for a Slim

From what I've seen, that 401 is the widest 150 out there. Someone on here has a Metzeler 880 150 on the stock wheel and it looks great as well. No fatter than the 401, but certainly on par. I'd say the decision comes down to what tread pattern you like the look of best.

For me though, the look of the wider wheel is just as important as the tire almost. The difference between the 401 150 and 160 is minimal, but having that 4.5" wheel will add to the appearance just as much. Also, profile alone can have as much impact on appearance as actual width. That 150 is a completely different shapes tire from the Slims MU.

I would like to add some information I found out and that might help us, Slim owners, to find a good, fatter rear tire that we can mount on a stock Slim.

I came across Avon tires, Cobra series:
http://www.avonmoto.com/products/cru...g-custom/cobra
looks like there is a good choice of wide tires that should fit!

I posted this info into another thread but I find this promising: there are a bunch of possible fit I think, ranging from 5.9 to 6.6 that could fit (all in the 3 and 3.50" to 4.50" rim width).
The profile looks also very nice!

Thoughts?

Welcome to the forum, you responding on a +- 5 years old discussion, you better start another with your question. If you have a stock 3" you can get a 170 squeezed on tere but
it will never measure 170 on the rim, you will get max 155 out of it and it will be more of a mushroom.
