Hey guys (and gals) I'm sure I'm not the first to ask this but; How can I build a more comfortable ride on my 99 softail custom? It has forward controls already and a footbar attached that is completely unusable for a 6'1" person. As-a-matter-of-fact, I use them to rest my leggs (calves) on. Not very comfy for any length of time.
I accidentially discovered a backrest helped tremendously once when I had to strap my laptop and duffle bag to the passenger seat on the way to a gig. I am also the soundman for a 10 piece rock band. www.fullhouseonline.com
Big Improvement! So I will be buying a backrest soon.
Should I try some footboards? It seems like my knees are bent and up too high thus resulting in my leggs wanting to spread apart while riding. Not very areo-dynamic at 70MPH.
put some 3" extended forward controls on it, that will help. I'm 6'-0" and it is much better now. You could also get a different seat or take some foam out of your seat to set you back a little farther.
I'm 6'3" tall and all leg. the 3" extended forward controls help tremendously in my opinion. That is probably the most intelligent thing I ever changed on my bike.
