Okay I keep going back and forth between the Fat Boy and The Soft Tail Custom. I like the look of the front wheel on the FatBoy better. I'm not into the spoke look like on the custom. But all and all I like the all around feel of the Custom over the Fat Boy...Handle bars and seat especially. Where can I find some different wheel options for the Custom?
They are basically the same scoot. The fatty has full fenders and tins on the front end plus the wide front tire. Custom is a skinny up front with a bobtail rear fender and no tins. You can mix and match anything you want. They make a bobtail fender for the Fatty and I am sure you couldput an FL front end on the custom if you really wanted to spend the time and the money to do so. It's all about preference. Choose the one you are like the most and tune it to suit your desires - thats what its all about.
Both bikes are nice, check out hogpro.com. They have a great selection of wheels in chrome or polished and good prices. They offer wide selection of wheel sizes and complete packages (pulley, rotors etc.)
I was also torn between the Custom and Fat Boy.
Try this wheel it's a H-D "Blade".
Mine's a 17" but they also make it for yours in 21".
I love it I think it really made the bike.
Then I'd leave your back rim on, it's solid chrome isn't it? Looks great and is easy to clean.
Your part number 41681-07 I think.
I have an 07 custom. I love the front wheel, the 21" is easier to clean than a 16 (I can get my fat hands into it). The back wheel is a different story, it's polished aluminum. Looks great when it's cleaned up though. I have V&H big radius pipes and it has a tendency of blowing crap onto the wheel. That's my $.02!
I liked the fatty too, but the ride of the custom felt better for me - a personal choice.Like you, I didn't like spokes either, too much of a hassle to clean so I replaced the front wheel on my custom. There's plenty of wheels available besides HD's too.
these are 18x 5.5 and 3.25 PM wheels ....got them for a song of 700 NEW....for the pair.... my train came with 17x6 rear and 21x2.15 front. there are a ton of things that you can do to the wheels, dont jump to quickly
