Default Springer issues, or lack thereof...

I'm coming up on 30k on my Bones and I've yet to have serious issues with maintence and tunning, like I was expecting when I bought it. I've had a death wobble and after a steering bearing adjustment, and rocker adjustment it was gone. I tweaked a wheel and had a wobble, got it it tuned and wobble was gone. I've since installed billet wheels to avoid spoke issues in the future. Lastly, I've kept my neck bearings greased and tuned, but haven't touched the rockers save that first time, over 10k ago.

The point is I've had great fortune with my front end. It has not been high maintence as I expected, and relatively trouble free. Over the last 30k I've adjusted the neck bearings maybe 3 times, not the 2,500 like recommended. I've kept it lubed well though.

After reading as much as I have about the maintence issues, I'm worried maybe I'm not doing enough. Maybe it's a case of, if it isn't broken, fix it till it is.

Harley has always made a great springer front end and with the shock absorber it's even better than the older style springers. Now, if you had a DNA springer like the one I had on my hardtail bobber, that's a different story. I had nothing but issues. Couldn't keep the rockers adjusted. The inner springs were so loose they rattled (to the point I removed them) and the forks flexed way too much for my liking and mine was a 2" under.

your not going to have issues 13. Keep an eye on the neck bearings and check for any freeplay while you have it in the air cleaning it. I have a 96 that I did all the bushings on at 56k and really none of them needed to be replaced but I did it anyway. If you keep the spray cleaner and pressure washer off the rockers they rarely if ever lose torque. They are not as fragile as everyone wants you to believe.

This makes me feel better. I was hoping I hadn't done something wrong, because after the first time they were adjusted, they've been fine. The bike doesn't sit much either. Currently I'm burning up 1000k miles a week.

50K miles on my 03. I've kept the neck greased since day 1...That's it. Feels as good as new to me..

Lots of hype from people that never owned a springer if you ask me.

I don't have a Bones but I do have an 05 Springer that has around 74k on her with no issues what so ever on the springer front end.
