Default Springer Adjustment - Neck Bearings

I'm replacing the neck bearings on my bobber due to it being a bit notchy when turning. I'm going to leave the clutch and throttle cable disconnected until I have it adjusted.

Can anyone advise me on how to adjust this springer? I'm familiar with the fall away method with tube type front ends but, after doing some research, came up with something I think is strange.

I read a couple of post that said, "adjustment is determined by the "bounce" off the fork stops". Never heard of this.

Any suggestions appreciated.

See if this helps. I thought it was worth adding to my reading list for when the time came...

I read that over pretty good. Unfortunately, I forgot to say that my springer is a Paughco and don't think most of that article applies. I have tried several times to get a run down on adjustments from Paughco but, they don't seem to care about "after the sale" customer service.

PM me your number. I've got a guy there who is really great if you can get him on the phone.

PM sent. Thanks, I really appreciate it. I talked to a lady at Paughco on Tuesday I think, she took my name and number and said she would have the springer expert call me but, haven't heard from them.

Is the Paugho really that much different from factory. Asking because at some point I’d like to start a scratch build for the grand boys

The way the lower rocker assembly is held together is totally different from the HD and Paughco.

Finally got some useful information from Paughco thanks to Omaha.

The neck bearings are adjusted using the standard fall away method, about 2" movement before falling away.

The lower rocker bolts are torqued to 15 ft lbs.

Now I can put this thing back together.

Thanks again Omaha....

Glad that worked out. I was being a bit self-serving here, since I need the same info!

Their answer seems reasonable. That stuff you were talking about with the bouncing off the stops didn't feel right. Glad you ran down the straight dope.
