I have had an Xelement suit for three years and it has held up well. It is something you do not use everyday but it nice when needed.
Rain boots covers are nice too for those cold and extended rides in the rain. Even at 60-70 degrees that rain gets cold! For the $20-25 and the little space they take up, it is one of those nice things to have in the bags when needed.

I don't usually buy anything HD because of the rediculous pricing except for a pair of zip on rain suit bottoms I found on sale. They are sweet and worth the fifty bucks!! Goes on nice and quick with sidezips and velcro covers on zips...keeps you dry. Have a rubber bum so you don't slip around on the seat and large melt proof sections by your pipes.
I keep looking for a good top, been using an old pullover which works fine but will start to weep over many hours...been there....done that...
zip ons are the way to go...use something similar for hiking...Ride safe.
Another tip that I got from a Road Warrior I met in my travels was to pack a compact umbrella as well. I picked one up at Walmart for $10. It only is about 12" long folded and doesn't take up much space.
HD-HI-VIZ warm and dry during several days of cold rain soaked rides. as the saying goes "Don't leave home without it" get the gators too! you won't regret it.
FrogToggs. Water reistant, and breatable. Some gets through the zipper part if you get stuck in extended downpours. I got ours at JP for about 80 bux a set. I was just at WalMart though looking for fishing stuff, and saw what looks basically like the same set for $20. I use the rain pants only and wear my leather jacket for the top. The top from the rainsuit goes with my fishing stuff. Hehe... 2 for 1 right?

Highly reflective. Kept me dry through 3 days of solid rain. I didn't have the gators then but I do now.
