Default Suggestions for a new bike

I recently bought a 2011 Fat Boy Lo in the silver and pretty much stock. I am now now trying to make it "my" bike. I did frind a set of bags for about $100 from hot leather that would work on my bike; thankfully the previous owner left the frame for soft bags (probably because he couldn't sell it on Ebay.) I have bought highway bars with pegs, and now playing with different ideas of what else I want to do with the bike.

What I am now trying to do is decide what to get first for the most bang for my buck. I want to change m handle bars because if I ride for an extended length of time, my back begins to hurt. I think if the handle bars went up a inch or two and a inch or two back, but my wiring from HD seemed to be to short to do anything. So I am in it to win it and open to any suggestion to new handle bars.

Also, I am looking at windshields. While I like my friends in the parts department, I am not enthused to spend close to $400 on a windshield. Does anyone have suggestions other than stock parts from HD?

Any suggestions of what I might be missing?

Check out windvest windhields, very low profile.

Have you considered aftermarket exhausts?

Mini-apes can help with back and shoulder pain.

How about a Mustang seat? They look great and are seriously comfortable.

The best advice I can give is to do little mods/purchases until you've ridden the bike a few months and have created a "wish" list.

Like most of us as you get used to your bike and view what other's have done your priorities of what and how soon will certainly change.

Start a "wish" list not by priority but by simply "I like that".
Then keep an eye open for used or discounted items on your list.

As funds become available start crossing items off your list.

Soon your list will shrink (along with your bank account ) and you'll have the bike that fits you.

I bought mine, the standard H-D quick-detach from New Castle H-D in PA, which is not far from me in Pittsburgh.
Their out-the-door price was far cheaper than the regular dealer MSRP (I paid $300 instead of $390) - and it was sitting on my porch in perfect condition within 48 hours.

Aftermarket exhaust is something down the road since they are expensive and more look/sounds than needed.

I was thinking of mini apes as well or maybe street slammers.

Haven't thought of replacing the seat.

Yeah, I am doing the wish vs the need list and sorting. I want to replace all my lighting with LED, but I need to work on getting handle bars first. I want to get a windshield, but I need to get handlebars first because it might change how big it needs to be. I did get aftermarket mirrors because the ones that came with the bike wasn't worth a flip.

Thinking I need to get a second job or work the streets to start working on my HD fix.
