Default Thinking about adding a Heritage softail

My local dealership has a 2000 Heritage Softail for 9500$. I know i can get it for 1000$ less. It seems to be in great shape for a 15 year old bike. paint is custom and show quality. I rode it and I like the way it feels. My only hesitation is it has 67,000 miles on it.Was 2000 a good year for the HSC? Can I expect lots of time with the mechanic, or is the mileage ok? Thank you for your help. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Got an 02 with 96,000+ but put the 95" in at 10,000 along with the 402 cams. Don't think I'll ever sell this one. I've also got a 99 FXWG (twinkie) w/60,000+ miles and bought it used at the 40,000+ mark. No problems. $9500 is kinda high for that yr IMHO. If it's a stock motor you may think it's a little weak especilly when loaded down and trying to pass a semi on a two lane. That's why I went to 95". Been there. The one you're looking at is probably carb which (again IMHO) is much better. I've also got two later model dyna's w/FI that I'm not very fond of because of the extra costs for any mods.

Yes it has the 1450cc TC88. I think they are overpricing it cause the paint job is custom and really looks good. I know KBB has an 8500$ value to that year. Should I be concerned about cam chain tensioners?

I would just open the cam chest and take a look at the tensoner shoes. I have a 2000 flstf that i love but mine has low miles on it, i plan to check mine @20k.

With that mileage it may have already had tensioners once or twice or possibly the updated cam plate or gear drive cams could have been put in it, it would be nice to know though. Maybe you could contact the previous owner if the dealer will give you that info.

See if the dealer has the service records for the bike. If it is a local trade the bike could have been serviced at that dealer.

Buy it if you like it. But it's a 7k bike. Just make sure its a carb and not MM EFI.
