Default softail vs road king?

so, im I'm ready to go from dyna low rider to sumthin i can cruise couple hundred miles or less a day with my f**kbuddy. ok, she's a little more than that. but anyway, i'm looking at classic softail & road king. we r both little people, 120 &180 lbs. i am very macho so don't want chick bike. so, what i want is sum thin comfortable for her but manly enuff for me, know what i mean? i am very sensitive bout my manliness. any of u sensitive guys out there? which bike is it? by the way, i am an ol fart, so the heritage appeals to me a lot.

Comfort = RK, IMHO. Take both for a long rode test, if you can.

Road King is a much better two up bike than any Softail.

First I decided that I wasn't going to purchase new and I was leaning toward a Road King.
My local dealer had many used bikes with low miles at good prices for sale.

I went to the "used" show room and started shopping.
The first time I sat on my "Renee" a 2009 Heritage, I knew she was the ride for me.

Sure the Road King was appealing but it just didn't sit as good as the Heritage.
I'm 5'8" 200 so I liked the low seating, plus I just love the classic Heritage look.

My Wife and I ride 2-up every other weekend though out the riding season and generally take in 2-300 mile trips. I joke that I have about a 4 hour ***
My Renee rides great for us and I wouldn't hesitate to take it for a long haul, even though cruise would be nice.

I hope to add air ride to it this spring to even better the ride.

As for your choice, I think you just got to go with you gut feeling.
If you plan to ride more highways than byways, then I think the lean would be toward the Road King. But if cruising the byways is going to be more your style, I just don't think you can beat a Heritage.

13 Heritage here. I sat on a Road King and felt like I was on top of it. Sat on the Heritage and felt like I was part of the bike. Have taken two week long trips two up and never felt I needed a "bigger" bike. By the way, the softail wheel base is 1/2 inch longer than the touring bikes. So is a touring bike really a "bigger" bike??

It depends. If you are 120 pound sand she is 180, you may want to go with the Roadking as the heavier bike may balance the load out more efficiently. Otherwise, I have had touring bikes from HD, and while they are very comfortable on long trips, the advantage in comfort does not outweigh the benefits of agility and quickness along with easier stopping capabilities. I like my Softail, and my wife and I fit great on it. Unless you are going to go all out for her with an Ultra, or EG, with the wrap around seat on the front of the tour pack, there is not much benefit in comfort with the RK over the ST. Personally I would pick the the Softail, but they are both great bikes and you can't go wrong with either.

Rode both, wasn't hard for me to pick, now we've owned our Heritage since new, 07, with 47k miles on her.. wife's been on the back probably 40 of them

It's been the best one of all the bikes I've owned in my 48 yrs of riding..

Great for putting around and those long trips.
