Default Breakout help

First off, I'm new to the site and fairly new to the motorcycle world. I've ridden dirt bikes a lot before, but now seriously considering buying a Harley. I think I've settled on a breakout because I like the slightly fatter rear tire and front rake. What I don't like is how low the bars sit. If I bought one I'd like to put a taller set if bars on it, a better set of pipes, and maybe lower it a little. Any help or suggestions to where I could find some kits/parts would be a great help. What all if this is gonna involve? New brake lines? New clutch cable? Thanks in advance? Also any other mods anyone could suggest would be awesome.

There are tons of pics that shows all the options for our bikes. Check out the Photo by Model forum and see what we have all done. There are Apes, beach bars....taller risers. Exhaust you will find to be a bit of a headache...but don't let that discourage you. There are quite a few options out there. And lowering is also not a problem. Hope this helps

One of the reasons for Harley's popularity is that with all the accessories & parts available for them, you can make it almost anything you want it to be.

I haven't heard a bad thing about it yet! Just don't like the stock bars or pipes. Half the fun in owning toys is mod'ing them anyway! I know there's endless options and that's a little intimidating to me. Not sure where to start pricing parts for what I want. Excited to do the research though!

If you are going to do the work yourself, expect to spend $1500-2000 on bars and pipes. To lower it, your options range from $20-1500. It all depends on how you want it to ride when lowered.

I think a lot of aftermarket vendors were leery of putting out too many parts for the Breakout at first. For instance, a Mustang seats rep told me personally back in Oct that they were not making a seat for the Breakout for fear of reliving the Rocker, but now they are in the process of designing one and will have it available sometime this year. The popularity of the Breakout will start to push others to make more options, we just have to be a little patient as it's such a new model.

I will be doing work myself. I don't plan on putting cheap parts on it. I don't believe in putting inferior equipment on anything I own just to save money. Does anyone have any sites they can link up for parts?

There are so many options for what you are doing it would be better for you to search a little and give us an idea of what you are looking for.
How tall do you want the bars?
What style of bar do you like?
What is your budget?
How low do you want the bike?
Do you intend to ride solo, or 2 up more often?

Answer those questions, then we can recommend parts.
