Night Train Headlight Trim Ring Problem

Ok, so I was installing my fancy new daymaker led headlight on my 09 Night Train. It's the 5 3/4 inch one that's just held in by the trim ring with a single screw. I barely got started tightening it up when the screw head pulled through. I didn't even reef on it. Did it three times. Is there a trick to this, or is my trim ring fubar. If it's fubar, is there a better option than the pos moco trim ring that doesn't cost a fortune? Or is there a way to fix this one that doesn't look like crap? Tried to do some searches and cam up with a ton of threads on fixing the frenched 7 inch trim rings, but nothing on this. Any advice would be appreciated.
