I'm very novice in working on the bike. Is this an easy install, or something for the pros?

If you have to right tools and note how everything comes apary, it's not too bad.

There are several installation write-ups (including pics) in the "Air Suspensions" section.

Here's one from a couple of years ago.
The shocks have been upgraded but the installation is still the same:

I am on the outsider on this discussion. I like a spring in my suspension., it is simple, reliable and will work, pretty much always. There is a new shock from Progressive that has a dial in preload. It has a small **** that you can just turn and it will adjust the ride height.

This L3 may have more potential since it has springs and damping. Damping is exactly what I said the SS lacked at times in my comparison review of the SS and 422's.

If you upgrade the rear suspension, do the front also.

I looked through the thread, but couldn't find your review. What do you mean by the SS not having damping?

A bike lift or jack makes it a lot easier to install. The right shoulder bolt was a bear to remove. I used a rubber mallet on the boxend wrench to break the bolt loose.
Most on my install time was spent cleanly routing the wiring under the tank for the switches.

Be sure to operate the system while the bike is raised looking to make sure of clearance for the compressor.

Shocks, including expensive racing shocks, have some sort of damping. Oil, springs, valves/discs. SS uses two air bags pushing against each other to create preload/rebound and height adjustment. And this works well but for me, it also left something to be desired at times, especially considering the price point. Given you ride a Lo, the comparison could be a little different because my bike is 1" higher with more suspension travel.

The comparison is in this thread. Unbiased, and for some, unpopular

Once you find the sweet spot settings with your SS, it is very hard to go back to anything else.

I'm not much for the show bike hydraulics type thing, though the SS can do that. But I love the ride when it's just slightly lowered with a nice touch of rebound.

It basically smoothed out all the potholes in L.A. for me. Though there are some bike eaters out there. haha.
