Hello! Haven't been on here for awhile. I picked up a 2003 Anniversary Standard before leaving for Afghanistan. Wasn't able to do anything to it, but clean it up and put it in storage. It has a little over 9800 miles and a few adds. When I get back I'm looking at putting on a set of VH Big Shots longs, intake and PC5, apes, bags and a few other things. Eventually the Fuel Moto 95 kit will be installed when I get back closer to WI. Anything I need to be aware off on this year/model?
i dont think so. If it wasn't on a tender, you may need to trickle charge the battery. if you didn't top off the tank, maybe go out and get a fuel additive/stabilizer and put it in the tank, fire it up, let it run for a few minutes and check for leaks and such, check the tires make sure there's no dry rotting or anything around the sidewalls... and that should be it really..
at 9800 miles you have nothing to worry about.
Once you hit 30,000 you would need to look at your Cam Chain Tensioner shoes, google the topic it is well documentd.
But you have nothing to worry about.
Make sure to change oil before you leave it, Gas stabilization is good if you leave it longer than 2 Months, try to fill with gas that has no ethanol.
and above all
Come back safe .
