the dealership has finally diagnosed my back light issue. They said that my custom dynamics led turn signals weren't drawing enough of a load and causing havoc with the bcm. They had to contact custom dynamics to actually figure this one out. They had set a bunch of codes. Apparently they had to replace them with a different style of led from custom dynamics that would draw voltage. Who would have thought that drawing to little of voltage would cause issues?

Hmm.

I'm gonna guess the dealer is wrong. I've been running CD LEDs on my 2013 Slim for more than a year now and no problems with the speedo backlight. It may cause you to throw codes, (basically the low voltage of the LEDs makes the ECM think a bulb is out.)

But that won't have any impact on your speedo light.

My 2013 Slim backlight also comes on when I go in a tunnel or any place dark. There is a sensor. And I bet yours is faulty and the dealer doesn't even know the sensor exist.

I thought that is a possibility except I put a new speedo in it last fall because that was their first diagnosis and still had the problem a few weeks ago. I'll find out soon enough I'm sure.

I had this issue the end of last season.
Replaced the Speedometer and have no idea if the problem has gone away until the snow in Massachusetts goes away a bit more.

Where is this light sensor located? In the speedometer itself?

Thanks
Dan
