Default I really need input here

I have the opportunity to purchase a 2006 Softail Heritage (not a Heritage Classic) FLSTi that has only 245 miles on it and is absolutely cherry mint condition.

My question is....I am a Harley Touring class guy. I love love love the comfort of the entire Touring Class. If I purchase this will I be disappointed in the 88b motor and or the comfort of the bike? I've owned Sportsters, Dyna's and Touring class bikes but never a Softtail.

Short answer: No.

If you're not pleased with the 88b, you can always build it up to something else. A Softail rides like a softail, and just my opinion after riding Sportsters and borrowing a friends Electra Glide from time to time (when we trade off during rides sometimes), I prefer the Softail over both.. but that's just me.

You might be disappointed. It is often better to just go with what you know. Softails are the perfect Harley and the perfect cruiser to me. It has almost been a year since I last went to the Harley dealer to look at bikes. My next bike is going to be something completely different (hint... not a Harley). So if you found what you to be satisfying maybe you should look at something completely different.

I assume you can also keep your Street Glide (?).
There are days I love the Ultra and days I love the Sporty....... For totally different reasons.

Stock 88 and stock 96 are not that different performance wise. Some say the 88b vibrates at speed, I do not notice it. You may miss the 6 speed though and the dual disks front brakes your 07 has. Take the Heritage for a looong test ride to decide if you like the ride.

As stated above,, not much diff between an 88 and a 96.. Cam tensioners are the biggest concern in an 88.

I have taken at least 1 week long vacation a yr on ours and its as comfortable as my sons Street Glide on a trip.. you may want to add some good bags, windshield, engine guards and rack for you trips.

I love the stock seat on my Classic,, don't know if it diff on the plain heritage.

I'll last yr I added some foot pegs,, the good HD ones that are fully adjustable and they made a Major diff on 7-8-9hr day rides... I'd advise anyone to get them.

At 64 and I've had a broken back, all I do is take a couple Advil in the morning and I good for those 300-400 mile days..
