Default May be going from touring to softail

I have had my SG for a couple years now but feel like doing something different. I have never been totally in love with my bike comfort wise. I love the way the Heritage Softail feels, it just fits me so well. I just don't care for all the studs or the style of the bags. There is a dealer nearby with an 09 Heritage pewter in color. I may go have a look at it and see how I like it. If I can get an even trade I may consider it. Anyone else come from the touring family? People think I'm crazy to want to go to a softail from a touring bike.

If you can only have one bike in the stable, do the softy. The Heritage is a versatile bike.

The Softail is a MUCH better looker than any touring bike (except the RoadKing) I guess you can tell I can't stand fairings;I think they make a bike look hokey, along with a tour pak. But on long trips, the tourer is the way to go. I am lucky enough to have both (Fatty & King) I enjoy riding the Fatty more (more Harleyish) but when I travel, I gotta have the king. Oh, & I agree--I think the studs look a tad gay.

I also tried really hard to like my Streetglide..... but ended up trading it for a Deluxe which I feel much more comfortable on. Sits me in the bike and with a 32 inseam I always had trouble with the height and width of the '09 streetglide frame.

You can always tour on a softail, but you cant softail on a tourer.... I'm thinking about a mustang seat with backrest, some saddlebags and I will have all I'll ever need for touring.

I am a softail convert, I had a 2009 SG and felt the softail was more comfortable. I had the opportunity to compare when my wife purchased her 2009 Heritage. I've been a touring guy for years but the softail just felt right. I like the handlebar placement, the smoothness of the engine (touring has the rubber mounted shaking thing going on..), and the power seems to be more responsive with less weight. I even like the stock seat which I never did on any of my other Harleys. Too bad I can't find a suitable backrest. I wanted more of a retro look, the fifties style bike and the softail fit the bill. I've owned a sportster, a dyna, a v-rod, and touring models over the past 20 years and I must say the softail feels good....

Well I have both, and if I had to keep just one it would be the SG (sorry guys). But I admit it is nice being able to make the decision which one to ride. The FB is the hot rod and show bike. The SG is the comfortable tourer, but is at ease just bar hoping too.
