Default Vance and Hines question

If I install the Big Shots Long on a 2010 Heritage Softail will I need to do a stage one kit?

Thanks,

Rick

no. you can change the exhaust without changing anything else. it's when you change your intake that you'll need to adjust your fuel ratio to compensate for 'more air'.

I have to slightly disagree with Sgt Jim (No Disrespect Sarg). My answer is Maybe. The majority of stock bikes that receive only exhaust up-grades do not require tuning but I have seen exceptions to this rule. I do have 2 points to make regarding your up-grade to Big Shots.

1. Stock Harley's, from the factory are mapped "Lean" and can benefit from proper mapping even if no up-grades are made.

2. Stage 1 intakes are inexpensive and will wake up the bike after proper tuning.

You'll receive very little or no performance gain from the Big Shots alone. For a few dollars more you can add a stage 1 intake and a inexpensive tuner. I recommend the Arlen Ness Big Sucker intake, and a V&H Fuel Pak. You'll then have the pipes you want, a full Stage 1, proper air fuel mixture, and a performance gain.
